In todays competitive market for your dollars, Catholic Parishes Federal
Credit Union strives to give its members the best possible value for their money.
Realizing that every member is an individual as well as an owner, the foundation
of the credit union has been to focus on products and services that provide
a good return on the money members have invested here.
Various savings choices make it easy for members to save for what they want.
A number of choices for withdrawals give members easy access to their money.
A wide variety of loans for any worthwhile purpose offer members a means to
achieve their dreams and goals while a variety of payment options make loan
repayment flexible and affordable. Additional services make it convenient for
members to manage their money any time of the day or night. For our members
who are also private business owners, low cost business accounts make it easy
for these members to do all their banking in one place.
Catholic Parishes Federal Credit Union embodies the credit union philosophy
of "people helping people" as members of local catholic parishes are
invited to join other members of similar catholic backgrounds working together
as partners in saving and borrowing.
Catholic Parishes Federal Credit Union was originally chartered on February
10, 1953 as St. Michael Livonia Federal Credit Union. It began with only a few
members who had need for sensible financial services; and business was conducted
out of a shoe box in someones basement. As members realized what a great
service the credit union provided, growth in membership and size led to a move
to the basement of St. Michaels Church. Parishioners from St. Edith, St.
Genevieve and St. Maurice catholic parishes were invited to join the growing
financial institution. The credit union expanded again, moving to a location
on Plymouth Road across from St. Michaels Church and changing the name
to Livonia Parishes Federal Credit Union to more accurately reflect the growing
field of membership that the credit union serviced. The credit union grew to
include even more members of the catholic faith, as St. Colette Parish joined
the ranks in 1975 and members of St. Priscilla Federal Credit Union merged into
the credit union in 1976. In 1995, the move to a new building at 36111 Five
Mile Road enabled the credit union to expand its services, most notably adding
a new drive-thru for the convenience of our members.
As news of the credit union and its no-nonsense approach to financial goods
and services spread, parishes from outside the city of Livonia joined the ranks
of the credit union. Our Lady of Victory from Northville came aboard in 1975;
St. Kenneth Catholic Parish from Plymouth joined the ranks in 1998 and Members
of Plymouth Council Credit Union merged into the credit union on April 1, 1999.
Steady growth to more than 5,000 members and more than $32 million in assets
fueled a desire to offer membership to even more people of the catholic faith
and prompted the name change to Catholic Parishes Federal Credit Union in December,
2000. Current plans for the credit union include actively pursuing other catholic
organizations to increase and broaden our membership base. In addition, the
credit union plans to continue expanding and updating services with an eye on
security and value for our members.
